I get compliments on my skin all the time but it never used to be that way. I had acne and acne scars and my face was a constant source of shame and embarrassment. I tried to hide behind my makeup but I hated wearing so much of it! I decided to research about different ingredients and find the right steps to improve the overall tone of my skin.
This topic is pretty extensive and I know so much that there is no way I can write it all (and keep your attention lol) in one blog post. So I will break it down to many posts and I'll try to keep each one short and sweet.
One ingredient that has definitely made a difference in my skin recently is vitamin C. Now before you go and start rubbing orange slices on your face, please hear me out. Vitamin C in skincare products are usually concentrated and work much better and faster than any piece of fruit will do. That is why these products can be quite costly. So what exactly does vitamin C do for you skin?
1. It reduces hyperpigmentation (dark spots) without lightening your entire face.
2. It protects your skin from free radical damage (i.e. pollution, cigarette smoke).
3. It brightens your skin and evens out your skin tone making it look refreshed and giving it a radiant glow.
Of course vitamin C by itself can only do so much. You really have to cleanse your face daily and exfoliate at least once a week in order to receive all the benefits of your skincare products. One last thing to take into consideration is that there is no such thing as a miraculous product that improves your skin overnight. Give your skincare products a week to a month to see any improvements.
Here is a list of products below that I have found to work for me. Click on the images if you'd like to purchase or read more information about them.
Bioelements - Advanced VitaMineral C Complex. This has a concentrated mega dose of vitamin C that works amazingly well. I apply this like a serum before my moisturizer. I absolutely love this product!
Murad - Essential C Night Moisture. This moisturizer is light and absorbs right into my skin. Another great product. Murad also has Day Moisture with SPF 30.
Too Faced - Primed and Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer. This primer with vitamin C and retinol makes your skin feel soft like butter and allows for a smooth and effortless foundation application.
